I have completed an Honours Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Ottawa and a Clinical Masters of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. As a committed learner, I was nominated for the Clara Kemila Anderson award for outstanding field practice during graduate school.
I have worked in social services for many years with over a decade of experience providing therapy to adolescents, adults and families in both the non-profit and mental health system. This includes providing counselling for adults in various capacities such as short-term private practice, brief drop-in therapy, sexual assault crisis work and as an Adult Counsellor at the Women's Health Clinic. In addition to work with adults I have worked with adolescents in a variety of settings including as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health worker within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, as an Adolescent Counsellor at the Women's Health Clinic, with sexually exploited youth at the Transition, Education & Resources for Females program as well with youth in schools, corrections and institutional based care.
I have a specific focus on helping adults and youth heal from all types of trauma. I have continuously sought out specialized techniques and training to be able to offer a high level of service in this area. I am passionate about helping people break free from their past and find hope in their future.
I believe strongly in giving back to the community and am a current volunteer for Fertility Matters Canada. Additionally, I have volunteered in the past with the United Way, Winnipeg Harvest, as well as Klinic Community Health and am a past member of the College of Social Work Children's Special Interest Group.
I am a member in good standing of The Manitoba College of Social Workers, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Canada, The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
